“I know what I need to do, but I don’t want to do it”
“I know what I need to do to lose weight, but I am not willing to do it, it’s too hard”.
Does this sound familiar?
If you need to lose weight, here is why you are struggling and what you can do about it:
You are struggling to go back on a diet because from experience you know it’s a temporary fix. You know how diets make you feel even though you may get to your result. The struggle is not worth it. Also what’s not worth it, is putting back the weight back the moment you start eating in a different way.
While you are on a diet you are trying to do everything perfectly otherwise what’s the point in torturing yourself, right?
You think you should eat certain foods, avoid others, exercise more than before etc…
You are thinking in terms of: this is a short-term plan instead thinking “I am trying here to make long lasting habits”. If you think about long lasting habits, then you know hitting the gym 7 days a week for 2hours won’t happen. Make realistic expectations if you want to succeed at weight loss. What can you do for the rest of your life?
Set up your environment for success. Set your boundaries with others. Let the people around you know, what is it that you need.
Look at your triggers for overeating. You are not gaining weight from eating. You are gaining weight from overeating. That can be overeating on ANY food.
Practice looking at food in a neutral way
Don’t try to be perfect on a daily basis
Move your body because it feels good, not because you need to earn food or burn it off
