What to tell yourself before you overeat….

Three things to keep telling yourself when you are about to emotionally overeat (binge) on your favorite foods:

1. The food you are about to inhale 3min will be there tomorrow. You want to enjoy the food, savour it and move on with your day. You don’t want to feel out of control, feeling sick and sluggish after eating. Eating massive quantities of food Will Not make it more enjoyable.

2. Think how you will feel when you put the food away and decline the binge. On the one hand you have physical pain, poor digestion, wasted day, feeling sluggish and miserable. You eat normal portions and you feel you are one step closer to healing your relationship with food. Keep that image in your head of what kind of person you want to be.

3. Food doesn’t solve your problems. I wish it did, but your problems and emotions you are trying to numb are still going to be there waiting for you once the binge is over. Food doesn’t solve problems.
